"The stories they tell.."
Updated: Aug 30, 2021
I can write stories with every piece I put my hands on! Its like an old home that comes alive when you walk in and hear the stories of the big family gatherings, food that was cooked for holidays and the kids running around playing.
These are examples of what I see when I do commissioned work. I believe it is one of the reasons I love doing commissioned work. It is an honor to take something valuable from someone and co-create the past with the present. This physical piece of furniture represents an important part of someone, the look, the feel, the smell, the design, the rawness of it and blending with the design of the family heirloom. It continues a story that will always be told and will always be there.
See, its not just about the physical piece I refinish but the co-creation and the meaning of the family values and importance of not the piece, but what it represents.
THIS; this is one of many reasons why I love to do this. I count my blessings every day to be a part of someones history and also someones present and future.
